What to do when it's cold?
Of course, wear woolen things. Many will agree that nothing
can replace wool and its thermal protection properties. Wool absorbs body
temperature and stores it in the fibers. Wool is of natural origin; it is obtained
from animal hair.
To this day, you can see many women who don't blow wool and
dry it outside. It is an integral part of summer in many of our yards.
I'm sure we all have a favorite piece of clothing and a
story about it.
When I was little, my grandmother made a lot of woolen
clothes for us. Every time while making something, when my grandmother reached
the middle of the fabric, she would call us one by one to try it on to see how
well it fits us. But among all those fabrics there was something special.
I still remember how happy I was to put on that dress and
never leave the mirror. I imagined myself as the queen of winter, the only
thing missing was the crown. The warmest memories of my childhood are the old
stove in our house, the smoke coming out of which still melted the snowflakes
in the air, and the woolen socks knitted by my grandmother, which never left my
little tots alone.
I also remember the scene where my grandmother created
another miracle with threads and two magic sticks in her hand.
Let me tell you a little about the types of wool, they are:
· Camel wool is quite durable, light, and at the same time
very warm. It is often used in production together with sheep's wool in various
combinations. Due to the fiber structure, it provides excellent thermal
insulation and good "breathing".
· Goat wool is more homogeneous and smoother than sheep
wool. The most popular types of goat wool are angora, cashmere, and Orenburg.
· Exotic types of wool are obtained from animals of the
camel family, such as llama, alpaca, and vicuña wool. Products made from these
types of wool are light, silky, durable, and at the same time high value.
· Sheep wool is the main part of the wool used in the light
industry. Due to the spiral structure of its fibers, sheep's wool products are
durable, voluminous, thermally insulating, and slow-wearing. Sheep wool is
often used in sportswear and accessories.
The right way to care for woolen items
· The elasticity and porosity of the finished fabric depend
on the flexibility of the wool as well as its resistance to folds, this is
where the great demand for sheep's wool becomes clear because it has great
elasticity and almost does not pill.
· It is also necessary to note that wool changes in volume
due to the influence of hot water and increases by 25-50%, in conditions of
high humidity, wool absorbs 40% of moisture, remaining dry to the touch.
· To preserve the uniqueness of the quality of wool, it is
necessary to wash it with neutral soap and avoid the influence of soda, as it
destroys the fibers.
You can find Armenian-made threads from sheep's wool on the
Koriz platform.
