"Shaghap tea" is a social enterprise aiming to create workplaces through the harvest of tea plants and supply natural products to the market.
The plant is in the settlement of Shaghap, Urtsadzor community. The tea plants are harvested from the highlands (2000-3000 m) of nearby Khosrov forest. The women harvesting the tea plants are from the same community and acquired basic knowledge in harvest beforehand. The plants are sorted in the plant and dried in the wind.
The main motivation for the production of tea was a 108-year-old grandmother of the founder Roza. Her grandmother was a doctor-pharmacist who studied the diverse world of teas, found the secrets of longevity, the healing effects of teas through a combination of tea plants.
After the genocide, her grandmother lost her two sons while migrating to Eastern Armenia, and here in Armenia, she gave birth to a son at 70 using the healing tea plants.
